Product Description
In his first book in five years, Michael Moore brings us the definitive guide to the 2008 election.

After a diastrous war, the failure to catch bin Laden, millions of families who have lost their homes, the Katrina debacle, soaring gas prices feeding record oil company profits, and the largest national debt caused by the biggest spending and borrowing administration in American history, the country has had it with conservatives, right-wingers and Republicans. A thrilling election season is now upon us. Obama vs. McCain. One candidate has promised a presidency different from any other, one that will take us forward to embrace the hope of the 21st century. The other candidate says he has no idea how to use a computer.

Welcome to MIKE'S ELECTION GUIDE -- Michael Moore's effort to make sense of the this fall's race for the White House and Congress. In it, Moore answers the nation's most pressing questions: "Why is John McCain so angry?,""Do the Democrats Still Drink from a Sippy Cup and Sleep with the Light On?," Can I get into the Electoral College with only a 2.0 gpa?" and "How many Democrats does it take to lose the most winnable election in American history?"

It's a great year to be an American and a voter. Don't miss out on all the fun! And don't miss out on MIKE'S ELECTION GUIDE -- it's the indispensable book that belongs in every American's back pocket this season.

5 out of 5 stars read this book before you vote!   October 11, 2008
Michael Moore has done it again! This book is a delightfully funny, truthful account of where we are in our government and a road map of how to get out! I laughed out loud while learning all I didn't know about our two party system and the issues that are important to us now. Please, read this from cover to cover before stepping into the election booth this November.

5 out of 5 stars MUST READ FOR EVERYONE   October 9, 2008
THIS GUIDE BOOK IS THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOK I READ THIS YEAR. IT IS A MUST READ FOR ANYONE WHO IS GOING OUT TO VOTE ON NOVEMBER 4TH. THIS BOOK COVERS THE NUTS AND BOLTS OF THE 2008 ELECTION. IF YOU WANT TO BE INFORMED AND HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. IT IS AN EASY READ AND COVERS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES OF THIS YEAR. TOO BAD IT WAS RELEASED MINUTES BEFORE THE BAILOUT CRISIS. HE, AS ALWAYS, HAS AN EXTENSIVE BIBLIOGRAPHY TO VERIFY HIS FACTS.

5 out of 5 stars Please, please read this book!   October 9, 2008
I loved reading this, even though I was often filled with a sense of dread and worry. Just listen to the title of the second chapter: "How to Elect John McCain... or, How Many Democrats Does It Take to Lose the Most Winnable Presidential Election in American History?" Hopefully, that's not how things go, but Moore puts it out there. "Ask Mike!" is another chapter, where people ask such hard-hitting questions as "which presidential candidate do I want to have a beer with?" and "if I have to move north of the border after the next presidential election because McCain has won, what do I need to know about Canada and Canadians?", which is something I've always wanted to know. You'll also get proposals on how to fix our broken elections, what to do once the election is over, and a handy candidate guide for several senate and the house seats. And if you hate Michael Moore, he's provided you with a chapter of lines taken out of context for you to use when telling people how awful you think the book is. Generous!

The book was funny, informative, and thought-provoking. It will make you want to go out and talk to people, and not just about the election. I've been going on about Social Security, health care, and the evils of high fructose corn syrup. You learn about the history of the Pledge of Allegiance, why our election is on a Tuesday and why it SHOULD be on a Saturday or Sunday, why the American people actually pay MORE taxes than the French and get so much less for it, and how wells could help America's image. If you love the Daily Show or Corbert Report, this is like one long episode in print form. Yes!

Okay, so I highly recommend this book. Go buy it or check it out from you library! Go... now!

Well, again, Michael is spot on. He always manages to get to the real problem without a lot of rhetoric. Also he injects humor so it doesn't become a downer to read. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know the truth about some of the situations we've gotten ourselves into and how to do something about them.

4 out of 5 stars A precious voting guide !   October 7, 2008
Well, as a French certain people may say that I have no right to interfere in the US election to come. But as the USA are one of the great countries of the free world, I do think the right belongs to me. I am a free citizen in a free country - France - whose citizens are very sensitive as far as values as freedom, fraternity, human rights are threatened.

Michael Moore reminds you American voters that 8 years of Bush governance of your country was a tremendous disaster. I did appreciate the mentioning of the 35 counts of Impeachment against your president that were submitted by the Democratic Speaker of the House, Congressman Dennis Kucinich of Cleveland http://kucinich.us/impeachment/articles.pdf.

"Article 1 : Creating a Secret Propaganda Campaign to Manufacture a False Case for War against Iraq

Article 2 : Falsely, systematically, and wit criminal intent conflating the attacks of September 11, 2001, with misrepresentation of Iraq as a Security threat as part of fraudulent justification for a war of aggression." and so on.

Michael Moore is absolutely right when he stresses on the terrific pauperisation of America. More than 40 millions of your citizens have no health protection ! The debt of the USA is abyssal. Yesterday we learned that the state of California (yo Hollywood and all the cinema stars and riches ) was on the verge to africanization. In fact California lacks of 7 billion US dollars to meet its end of the month engagements. That means that if the State of California can not borrow this amount of cash, it will not be able to pay its civil servants ! Fabulous ! Don't you remember the ENRON case with mixed interests with the Bush administration ? ENRON and the State of California which did appreciate the many power outages. What about the neoliberalism that wrought havoc on your economy (and ours too in Europe) with one of its visible aspects of the subprime crisis ? What a shame !

Please get rid of the bushists and republican pledge by voting Obama. Let us breathe some fresh air we are to share for the benefits of all of us.
